Art Éra Foundation
Our organization was founded in 2007 and opened its doors in 2008 in the heart of Budapest’s 7th district, providing support for individuals struggling with substance use and those seeking recovery. Our team members view their work here as a calling—many are long-term recovered individuals themselves, while others are highly trained professionals specializing in social work within this field.
The mission of the Art Éra Foundation is to provide social, therapeutic, health-promoting, specialized educational, artistic, cultural, and community services for individuals struggling with addiction, at-risk young people, young adults, and their families. Our goal is to develop, operate, and continuously improve a comprehensive service system based on the principles and practices of self-help. This system supports individuals through every stage of their journey—from prevention and early intervention to skill development, employment, and long-term aftercare—offering a rich network of services tailored to individual needs. We integrate peer support by employing recovered individuals as mentors. The foundation is committed to alleviating, improving, and addressing issues related to drug use and addiction, ultimately contributing to a healthier and more livable society in Hungary.
We were established to address gaps in addiction care, identifying shortcomings in the system and launching essential services that were previously lacking or insufficient. One of our key initiatives was to challenge the notion that addiction recovery is unattainable. To do this, we prioritized employing social workers who have personally overcome addiction and maintained long-term sobriety—whether from illicit substances or legal ones like alcohol and nicotine.
Our center was designed with modern solutions to ensure functionality and accessibility, making it easy to reach via public transportation. We offer a wide range of services that have been consistently utilized and adapted to meet the evolving needs of our target group. Additionally, we have developed strong professional relationships with organizations within the field and local decision-makers.
Among our achievements, we consider our direct and meaningful engagement with our clients to be the most significant. Through our dedicated team, we also work closely with the families and support networks of individuals struggling with addiction. We see tangible progress and positive change every day, fulfilling the goals outlined in our founding charter.
Our aim is to illuminate the pathways to a sober lifestyle, making substance-free living more appealing, vibrant, and fulfilling. We strive to create a space where individuals at any stage of addiction or recovery can find value—somewhere they can turn to for a fresh start, return to when needed, draw strength and motivation from, and receive concrete support and guidance at any time.
